The ‘Rice of Fragrance’ This unique variety of Rice has been grown since centuries in India. As per the Oxford Dictionary, the Word ‘Basmati’ is derived from pure Hindi language. ‘Baas’ means Fragrance or Smell or Aroma. The earliest reference comes in the Epic “ HeerRanjha “ written by Punjab Poet Varis Shah in 1766.
